The Department of Pediatrics at Mt. Scopus is the largest General Pediatric Department in Jerusalem. It provides children's medical services to the greater metropolitan Jerusalem area. It is located at the Northeast part of Jerusalem and provides health care services to the surrounding neighborhoods. In these residential areas, populated with mainly young families, live the majority of the children in Jerusalem.
The Department has close associations with other pediatric services within the Mt. Scopus campus that include neonatology, pediatric surgery, child psychology, and physiotherapy.
The Department of Pediatrics at Mt. Scopus consists of 11 attending physicians, 13 resident physician, 43 nurses, 2 dietitians, 2 child-life workers, and a pediatric social worker.
Most of the staff physicians hold academic appointments at Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School and are active in teaching medical students and residents. Many of the physicians are involved in basic and clinical research.
The staff of the Department of Pediatrics at Mt. Scopus is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to all children without regard to ethnic or religious background. Patients admitted to the wards receive integrative, humanistic, multi-disciplinary care that takes into account the special needs of each individual. Strong emphasis is placed on high-quality ancillary services including nursing, nutrition, child-life, and social services.
The Department is well known for its staff accessibility and attentiveness.
During the next several years, the Department plans an extensive renovation of the inpatient wards, expansion of research facilities, and opening of new ambulatory clinics in a variety of disciplines. Emphasis will also be placed on developing innovative programs to enhance both ambulatory and chronic care services that will serve patients throughout Israel.
