The Pediatric Department at Mt. Scopus is the largest general pediatrics department in Greater Jerusalem. It provides children's medical services to the greater metropolitan Jerusalem area. It is located at the Northeast part of Jerusalem and provides health care services to the surrounding neighborhoods. In these residential areas, populated with mainly young families, live the majority of the children in Jerusalem. The department is divided to Pediatrics A and B, both located on the 5th floor of the main building.
The department includes a center for diagnosing and treating a large range of pediatric acute and chronic diseases, a Center for Pediatric Chronic Diseases, an intermediate intensive care unit and pediatric surgery ward. The inpatient wards have a total of 42 beds. The Pediatric Department has strong working collaborations with pediatric psychological and rehabilitative services. Also available are very active child life and medical clown programs.
During the next several years, the Department plans an extensive renovation of the inpatient wards, expansion of research facilities, and opening of new ambulatory clinics in a variety of disciplines. Emphasis will also be placed on developing innovative programs to enhance both ambulatory and chronic care services that will serve patients throughout Israel.
