Birth defects of the urinary system are sometimes found in children. Some of these defects, especially those of the kidneys and urinary bladder, can be diagnosed prenatally during an Ultrasound scan of the fetal organs. Other common birth defects, mainly those of children's genitalia (such as Cryptorchidism, Hypospadias, Chordee, etc.) are discovered at birth. Most of these birth defects may be fixed surgically.
In addition, many of the urological diseases often found in adults (infections, Urolithiasis, Enuresis, Urinary Incontinence, etc.) may appear in children as well.
Within the Department of Urology in Hadassah Ein Kerem there is a unique unit that specializes in pediatric urology. The director of this unit is Dr. Guy Hidas.
