Pediatric Social Services

The hospitalization of a child has wide-ranging consequences not only on the child but also on the entire family.

While dealing with concerns and fears related to the child's treatment and prognosis, the family also has to deal with the consequences of the child's hospitalization on other family members. Parents are forced to juggle the patient's needs with the needs of other family members.

Members of the pediatric social work teams both in Ein Kerem and Mt. Scopus are skilled in providing assistance to families who find themselves in this situation. Social work services are available for both emotional and instrumental issues. In all pediatric departments, the social workers are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary treatment teams.

The Department of Social Work Services also runs an Information Center called "Kivunim". This center provides patients and their families with information about rights and benefits and can assist in filling out forms necessary for application process for these rights and benefits.
