About The Pediatric Pulmonology unit

The Pediatric Pulmonology unit cares for children with acute and chronic lung diseases in both Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus. It provides diagnosis and treatment to a variety of respiratory abnormalities including

  • congenital anomalies
  • bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • recurrent pneumonia
  • bronchiectasis
  • interstitial lung diseases
  • asthma
  • cystic fibrosis
  • primary ciliary dyskinesia
  • upper airway obstruction

Our medical staff has unique expertise in performing rigid and flexible bronchoscopies with over 300 procedures a year, including invasive procedures such as foreign bodies' extraction and endoscopic closure of recurrent tracheo-esophageal fistula.

The pulmonary lung function laboratory provides a variety of lung function testing including

  • infant pulmonary function testing
  • spirometry
  • lung volumes and resistance measurements
  • bronchial challenges for the diagnosis of asthma in all ages including by lung sound detection
  • cardiorespiratory assessment by incremental exercise for the evaluation of effort dyspnea
  • tests for pre flight assessment
