The unit for tissue typing and matching specializes in human immunogenetics. Within this framework, the department carries out the following tests: determination of paternity, maternity, and parentage, and genetic identification for purposes of forensic medicine. In addition, the department also performs tissue typing at the serological, molecular, and cellular level in preparation for bone marrow, kidney, pancreas, and heart transplants; tissue typing for the purpose of differential diagnosis of disease and prenatal diagnosis of diseases relating to the tissue matching network.
