The Department of Pathology provides a diagnostic service which encompasses biopsies, surgically excised tissue or organs and cells (cytopathogy - whether from body fluids, fine needle aspiration (FNA) or PAP smears).
In our department the pathologists deal with the entire spectrum of pathology. In addition almost every case is examined by a pathologist with special expertise in that field.
Consultation for "second opinion" is done in all fields with special expertise in the following fields:
§ Pathology of diseases of blood and lymph nodes (hematopathology)
§ Pathology of the lung
§ Gynecological pathology
§ Pathology of bone and soft tissue
§ Pathology of the gastro-intestinal tract
§ Pathology of the liver
§ Transplantation pathology
§ Pathology of the skin (dermatopathology)
§ Pathology of the kidney, urinary tract and male genital tract
§ Pathology of the breast
§ Pathology of the neonate, fetus and placenta
§ Pathology of the nervous system (neuropathology)
