In the Department of Ophthalmology at the Hadassah University Hospital there are specialists in all sub-specialties of ophthalmology: Comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract, cornea and ocular surface, glaucoma, retinal and vitreous diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, inflammatory eye diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics and intraocular tumors.
All of the categories of eye surgery are performed in the department: cataract extraction surgery using the most modern methods; glaucoma surgery; corneal surgery, including corneal transplantation and conjunctival surgery; retinal and vitreo-retinal surgery, strabismus surgery; surgery of the orbit, eyelid and lacrimal drainage system; and surgeries for ocular tumors.
All types of lasers existing in ophthalmology are used in the department. Lasers for treating various retinal diseases, including the most advanced laser for treating age-related macular degeneration; lasers for treating glaucoma; lasers for treating intraocular tumors; and the most advanced laser for refractive surgery for treating myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism using the LASIK technique.
