The department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides a inter-disciplinary approach to the treatment of patients suffering from diverse neurological and orthopedic conditions from the time of injury through the inpatient, outpatient, community integration and long-term follow-up periods. Our goal is to help patients whose function is limited to achieve independence and to return to the community in the best availble condition with the maximal quality of life.

Our Vision

 

The department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital is a general rehabilitation department which provides rehabilitation treatment to the large population of Jerusalem and the west bank, patients from all over the country and international patients .

 

The department offers reahabilitation treatment for patients suffering from diverse neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatc brain injury, brain tumors, spinal cord injury, and neuromuscular disorders, diverse orthopedic disorders, reconstructive surgery cases, rheumatologic conditions, amputations, burns and low back pain and general pain syndromes. All patients are treated by comperhensive, interdisciplinary in-patient rehabilitation program conducted under the direction of a physiatrist..

 

Each patient received approximately 3 hours of supervised therapy daily from both physical and occupational therapists. The rehabilitation treatment includes physiotherapy for motor and gait recovery. We use also Robotic device (LOKOMAT) with partial body weight support to improve locomotor function of our patients. In ocupational therapy the main emphasis is on ADL training and cognitive rehabilitation including computerized programs. Special speech therapy for brain injury patients is employed in our speech therapy unit.

 

During all rehabilitation periods, special attention is given to the psychological and social issues. Each patient is evaluated and treated by psychologist if needed. A social worker is involved in each patient regarding the connection with the patients' families, community and the other authorities.
