Initiative and innovation have always been Hadassah's hallmarks. From the very beginning, Hadassah's pacesetting progress has set the standard for medicine in Israel; this standard is excellence. An impressive list of achievements -- each of them trailblazing in their time -- is testimony to Hadassah's vision and mission. And, the Hadassah Medical Organization continues to march forward to make the world better place through healing, teaching and research.

Healing.

Hundreds of thousands of people each year are treated in over 100 outpatient clinics and one of more than 70 departments and specialized units. A complete range of diagnostic laboratories as well as the most-up-to-date imaging machines and other state-of-the-art equipment backs these clinical arms. Hadassah provides practically every possible medical service available in the United States and Western Europe. Some departments are the only facilities of their kind in the Jerusalem area; others are unique in Israel, which has led the government to designate Hadassah as a National Center in a number of areas.

Teaching.

A partner with the Hebrew University in five academic institutions dedicated to the medical sciences, the Hadassah University Medical Center is known throughout the world for its training of outstanding physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals. The collaboration with the Hebrew University has produced many distinguished scientists who have enriched the world with their discoveries.

The School of Public Health, in cooperation with the Israeli government, offers a concentrated one-year course in English for international students, culminating in a Master of Public Health Degree. Since its inception, more than 500 students from over 90 countries have completed the course, returning home to fill crucial positions in public health and community medicine.

Research.

More than half the hospital research conducted in Israel is carried out at Hadassah. Each discipline incorporates research units and there are many interdisciplinary research centers. In both hospitals and within a number of hospital departments, Hadassah has created Centers of Excellence: brain trusts of scientists and physicians, integrating clinical care with the latest laboratory lessons.
